The JRSO team help to keep our children and families safe.
Leading School Assemblies: They present to the whole school, using fun presentations, dramas, or songs to talk about topics like “Stop, Look, and Listen” or the importance of wearing a helmet when cycling.
Running Competitions: They organize school-wide challenges—such as designing a bright, reflective poster for winter walks.
Maintaining the Road Safety Notice Board: They keep everyone up to date with school initiatives on their board.
The EDI (school council) is designed to give pupils a voice. In our meetings we discuss issues/ideas about school life that have been raised in our class assemblies. These are then discussed with the staff at staff meetings. The school council also discusses how to raise money to support different charities throughout the year. These have included : The Poppy Appeal, Children in Need, Harvest Donations, Sports Relief and Diabetes UK.
The Role: Two elected children from every school in the trust meet once every half-term. They act as "Members of Pupil Parliament" (MPPs) for their school constituencies.
What they do: They represent the voice of their peers, gather feedback from classmates, and lead active social change projects within their communities. For instance, they have historically been tasked with spearheading the "ASSET Food Project," researching, voting on, and implementing sustainable, culturally diverse, and healthy school lunch menus.
We are very proud of our environmental area. Our EDI group and ASSET Arrows have helped us make the changes we needed to learn about food, the environment and how being outdoors impacts positively on us all.
The Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) invited Suffolk Safer Cams to visit us. The children took turns to look through the speed camera and they observed that everyone coming past school was doing so within the speed limit.
